13 year old Quinn Walker’s WW1 inspired road name ‘Redgate Place’ wins competition

4th February 2015

Earlier this year we held a competition for the residents of East Leake to suggest a street name for the main road that will run through the new Kingston Meadows development of homes.

We had a great response from members of the local community. After much consideration, we chose to award 13 year old Quinn Walker for his suggestion of ‘Redgate Place’. Quinn, a year 8 pupil at East Leake Academy, had explored the history of East Leake and its inhabitants and his entry is poignantly related to the ongoing WW1 centenary commemorations.

Oliver Redgate was a WW1 fighter pilot in the 209 squadron that is now an RAF cadet corp in Nottingham, to which a few of the East Leake Academy students are cadets.

Pictured here are Mr Simon Gardiner, Managing Director of Peter James Homes, Mr Phil Renshaw, Acting Principal of the East Leake Academy, Mr Steve Waring, Construction Manager and Quinn Walker, the competition winner.
